Derby County striker Dajaune Brown has said he will ‘see what happens’ this summer as the Rams weigh up their next move.

Derby County have a decision to make on what to do with the youngster ahead of next season.

Brown, 18, has recently been out on loan at Gateshead in the National League and scored nine goals in 21 games in all competitions.

He has said, as per a report by DerbyshireLive: “I’ll just have to see what happens in pre-season and if I can impress when the season starts. I am looking for whatever is best for me and whether the first-team here think I am ready for it.

“If the team goes up to the Championship or not, it will have an effect. If the first-team think I should go back on loan then if they think that will help, that’s what I will do.”

Derby County striker on future

It appears that Brown would be open to another temporary exit away from Derby County which would be beneficial to his development.

He was given the green light to link up with Gateshead this past winter to get some experience under his belt and did well in the fifth tier.

The next natural progression for him now would be a switch to either League Two or potentially even League One.

The Rams are closing in on promotion to the Championship and just need a point on the final day at home to already relegated Carlisle United to get over the line, with Bolton Wanderers breathing down their neck as they head to Peterborough United.

Brown’s chances of getting into the first-team next term would be slim if they go up so another departure would be a shrewd decision.

The Nottingham-born man has been on the books at Derby County for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks.

He has been a regular for the Rams at various youth levels and has played five times for their senior team so far.

The forward is under contract until 2026 and has a bright future ahead of him as Paul Warne’s side consider their options with him.
