Norwich City man expects to be 'fighting' for a start next season after successful League Two loan

Norwich City man Brad Hills has told Pink Un that he is ready to challenge for a starting place in the side next season following his loan at Accrington Stanley.

Norwich City are targeting a top six spot in the table and a subsequent place in the play-offs. They currently sit in 6th but face competition from several sides below them.

With playing in the Premier League a real possibility next season if they maintain their momentum and progress through the play-offs, there are likely to be fresh faces in the side.

One player who is hoping to be in contention whether the Canaries are in the top flight or remain in the Championship is centre-back Hills.

The 20-year-old has played a huge part for Accrington Stanley so far this season, playing 41 times in all competitions, and even captaining the side on a couple of occasions.

Speaking to Pink Un, Hills has said he is ready to fight for his place at Carrow Road.

"It's looking good for next season! We're all having good seasons, and it'll be good to go back in pre-season, everyone bonding and fighting for that centre-back spot," he said.

“Hopefully, this season will create a pathway for me next season, whether that's at Norwich or somewhere else in the Football League.”

The defender will likely be in action when Accrington Stanley face Morecambe on Good Friday; whilst parent club Norwich City take on Plymouth Argyle.

Too early for Hills at Norwich City

Hills’ loan in League Two is his first taste of senior football at any level and so would not be ready to step up to either the Championship and certainly not the Premier League next season yet.

He says that he is ready to compete in pre-season with the hopes of getting into the first-team fold, but understands he could move to another side in the EFL instead. This second option seems more than likely.

A loan deal to a League One side or even a side coming up from League One into the second tier could prove fruitful for Hills. He has excelled in League Two and perhaps deserves to step up, but at Norwich City, not just yet.
