Bradford City have underperformed this season and need to bolster their ranks this summer.

Bradford City have the opportunity to bring in some reinforcements when the next transfer window opens.

The Bantams are currently sat in 14th place in the League Two table and are eight points off the play-offs with four games left to play this season.

They should look at signing Morecambe centre-back Jacob Bedeau at the end of the campaign on a free transfer to boost their defensive department.

Bedeau’s contract at Morecambe expires in late June and he is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension meaning he is due to become available as a free agent soon.

He has a big decision to make on his future and Bradford should swoop in and try and persuade him to move to Valley Parade.

At the age of 24, he has time on his side and the potential to get better and develop in the future.

Bedeau joined his current club back in 2022 and has since been a key player, making 115 appearances in all competitions and chipping in with two goals.

The Daily Record claimed last year that the Shrimps rejected a bid from St Mirren for his services last summer. However, they will face another battle to keep him again this year due to his uncertain contractual situation.

The Grenada international, who has one cap under his belt to date, played for Leyton Orient and Bury as a youngster before Aston Villa snapped him up in 2017.

He then spent two years on the books at Villa Park before linking up with Scunthorpe United.

Bedeau enjoyed plenty of game time with the Iron and made 53 outings before catching the attention of Burnley.

The Clarets lured him to Turf Moor in 2021 but he didn’t make a first-team appearance during his stint with the Premier League outfit.

Morecambe subsequently landed him on loan before making his switch to the Mazuma Stadium permanent. He hasn’t looked back since and securing his signature would be a statement of intent by Bradford if they were able to.

Bedeau has been at some decent sized clubs in the past like Aston Villa and Burnley and would tighten up the Bantams’ backline.

Alexander’s men saw their trip to Barrow postponed yesterday due to the weather. They are back in action this weekend away at Salford City.
