Wrexham have offered a new deal to striker Steven Fletcher, as detailed on their retained list.

Wrexham are keen to keep hold of the attacker as they prepare for life in League One.

Fletcher, 37, sees his current contract expire at the end of next month and he is due to become a free agent as things stand.

As confirmed on their official club website, he has been proposed some fresh terms along with Mark Howard and Aaron James.

Wrexham offer striker new deal

Keeping hold of Fletcher would be a shrewd move by Wrexham if he agrees to stay put.

He has bags of experience in the game and provides competition and depth to their striking department.

The ex-Scotland international, who made 33 caps for his country, joined the Red Dragons in September last year and has since scored eight goals in 33 games.

Prior to his switch to the Racecourse Ground, the veteran had spells at Hibernian, Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City and Dundee United.

Wrexham have a host of attacking options in their ranks like Paul Mullin, Elliot Lee, Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriott and Sam Dalby, as well as the returning Jake Bickerstaff, and Fletcher if he stays, which means they are well stocked up on options in that department.

They finished 2nd in the fourth tier this past term and have gone up with Stockport County and Mansfield Town. One of MK Dons, Crawley Town, Crewe Alexandra or Doncaster Rovers will join the trio through the play-offs.

Wrexham have become one of the latest Football League teams to publish their retained list. They have released Aaron Hayden, Rob Lainton, Callum McFadzean, Ben Tozer, Jordan Tunnicliffe, Luke Young, Owen Cushion and Dan Davies.
