Wrexham striker Jake Bickerstaff has returned from his spell at Accrington Stanley, his loan club have confirmed on their official website.

Wrexham let the attacker head out the exit door on a temporary basis in the January transfer window.

Bickerstaff, 22, made 10 appearances for Accrington Stanley in League Two and scored once.

The North West outfit have now announced on their retained list that he has gone back to the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham have a decision to make regarding what to do with Bickerstaff ahead of next season.

The Welsh club are preparing for life in League One following their promotion along with Stockport County and Mansfield Town.

He may struggle to get into their side ahead of the likes of Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Steven Fletcher, Jack Marriott and Sam Dalby.

The Liverpudlian faces a lot of competition for a starting position and although he provides useful competition and depth, his game time may be limited.

Therefore, a potential exit in some capacity may be the most sensible decisions as the Red Dragons weigh up their next move.

Bickerstaff’s contract runs until 2026 meaning they are under no pressure to let him leave.

He joined Wrexham back in 2017 after he had a spell at Liverpool as a teenager and he has since played 24 times for his current club in all competitions, scoring three goals. He has also had loan spells away in the past at Nantwich Town and Caernarfon Town to boost his development.

The forward helped Phil Parkinson’s side win promotion from the National League last year and they have since gone up again whilst he was away at Accrington Stanley.

The Red Dragons have a big summer ahead now as they look to be a force to be reckoned with in the third tier.
