According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly (25) on a free transfer at the end of the season. The English centre-back’s contract with the Cherries is set to expire at the end of June and he is expected to leave the South Coast.

With the end of his contract fast approaching, Newcastle have acted swiftly to agree terms with the former Bristol defender. Lloyd Kelly has been ever-present for Andoni Iraola this season and has played a crucial part in comfortably securing yet another season of football in the English top flight for Bournemouth.

Kelly is familiar with the current Magpies head coach, Eddie Howe, with the former Bournemouth manager being the man responsible for bringing him to the Premier League club. The versatile defender will be a valued reinforcement for Howe after having several injury troubles in defence this season.
