A disastrous April and memories of September's injustices in their last game against Tottenham helped fuel Sunday's 4-2 victory.

After a disastrous April, Liverpool looked back to something like their best for much of Sunday's 4-2 victory over Tottenham, even if a late resurgence won't be enough for them to end the season with more silverware to celebrate.

Still, if the Jürgen Klopp era is fated to come to an end with a third-place finish and League Cup title no matter the final league games, it will at least feel better to send the manager off with a few more victories and some flowing football.

"We came here for redemption, really," was midfielder Harvey Elliott's take on the performance and result. "After what happened in the away game, I think we had a point to prove—and after recent weeks as well—and we did that."

The Away Game in question they were looking for redemption for was September's 2-1 defeat that saw the Reds defeated thanks to a wrongly disallowed Luis Diaz goal, a pair of red cards, and a 96th minute Joël Matip own goal.

That confluence of inexcusably dire Premier League officiating and rotten luck clearly hadn't been forgotten on Sunday. Now, the goal for Elliott and the team will be to deliver that kind of performance in Klopp's final two games.

"We had to come here to turn things around, especially at Anfield," he added. "The home crowd were behind us from the first minute and the boys showed that. To score as many goals as we did was great and to the win even better."
