Liverpool 'do not feel out of the race' to sign priority target this summer – Reds 'will not be spectators', ready to act

Over the past several weeks, various sources in Italy have explained Liverpool are keen on signing Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners in the summer.

Last week, Tutto Atalanta stated the Reds are in contact and could start early negotiations with La Dea, when the two teams face each other in the Europa League next month.

At the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport reported he favours a move to Juventus over the Merseyside club. This is echoed by another report from the same newspaper today, who then claim Liverpool aren't willing to give up in the battle for the 26-year-old.

According to Gazzetta, the English club will take a closer look at the player when they face Atalanta in the European competition.

The Netherlands international picked up an injury against Scotland and it's not yet clear whether he'll be fit on time to face Liverpool.

Either way, the Premier League side 'do not feel out of the race' to sign their main target for the next window, who would cost around €60m.

It's further claimed Liverpool 'will not be spectators' in the battle for the Dutchman's signature.

Therefore, Juve have been working around this deal for some time to get an approval from Koopmeiners and also find a formula to convince Atalanta.

The Turin club must be wary of Liverpool, however, who are clearly ready to act on this operation.
