His comments come just days before the two sides clash at Anfield in what could be a Premier League title-deciding match on Sunday.

Liverpool sit top of the table and have already won the Carabao Cup this season, with City one point behind them in the league.

With the hugely anticipated match on the horizon, Haaland was asked about Alexander-Arnold’s comments about what it means to win trophies to each club.

And when speaking to Sky Sports, he wasn’t afraid to boast his own achievements, as he said: “If he wants to say that, okay. I’ve been here one year and I won the treble.

“It was quite a nice feeling, I don’t think he knows exactly this feeling. So yeah, that’s what I felt last season, it was quite nice so yeah.”

He added: “They can talk as much as they want, or he can talk as much as he wants. I don’t know why he does that but I don’t mind.”

Haaland proved crucial in City’s historic success last season as he scored 52 goals in 53 matches across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s side could even have won the quadruple but they suffered a shock Carabao Cup quarter-final exit to Southampton.

With Liverpool currently leading the title race, City will be desperate for victory at Anfield as they eye a record fourth consecutive crown.

The reverse fixture saw both sides settle for a 1-1 draw, with Haaland opening the scoring before Alexander-Arnold’s late equaliser.

Arsenal are also part of the title race but all eyes will be on the two rivals this Sunday in what could be a match for the ages.

There is no doubt Haaland and Alexander-Arnold will be both be fired up as they play a war of words.
