Harry Kane set for swift return to Tottenham in chance to win trophy

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is set to make a grand return to Tottenham this summer – with silverware on the line.

Tottenham are set to host Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly on August 10 in the Visit Malta Cup, meaning silverware will be on the line.

Kane signed for Bayern last summer in a deal worth £82million initially, which could rise to £100m, and has been a huge hit in the Bundesliga.

The England international is Tottenham’s all-time highest goalscorer and his return to north London will no doubt be an emotional one.

But while he spent 19 years with Spurs, he never won any silverware despite going down as one of their greatest players.

It makes it somewhat ironic, then, that Kane could end up lifting a trophy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium draped in the colours of another club.

As well as Kane returning to Spurs, another ex-player could be set to star in Eric Dier.

The defender also spent a sizeable portion of his career with the Premier League outfit, joining in 2014 before signing for Bayern in January.

Having signed on loan initially, Dier impressed the Bayern hierarchy and will join on a permanent basis in the summer.

Kane has been in brilliant form for Bayern this season, where he has scored 31 times and assisted seven in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

Despite his incredible goal record, though, the German giants might end the season empty-handed – which would ironically continue Kane’s wait for a crown.

Having already crashed out of the DFB-Pokal Cup to minnows Saarbrucken, they sit ten points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.

The Champions League might be Bayern’s best chance at winning a trophy but they face Premier League table-toppers Arsenal in the next round.

It means Munich manager Thomas Tuchel might have to rely on Kane reigniting an old rivalry in order to keep their hopes alive.
