In a recent report, Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) mentioned that Newcastle United are showing interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been stated that the Magpies are eyeing a move to sign the Italian wide player in the upcoming transfer window.

Chiesa’s Good Season At The Allianz Stadium

Chiesa is having a decent campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The Italian talent has participated in 28 matches for Juve this season, finding the back of the net eight times and earning two assists in the process across multiple competitions.

The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer on the left flank based on his average of 2.2 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been careful when distributing possession in the opponent’s half as he has made 76.4% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Italian club will expire at the end of next season which could open the door for the Magpies to land him on a cut-price deal this summer.

What Will Chiesa Add To Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe’s Team?

Chiesa is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for others around him and can even shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range. However, the Italian sensation needs to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s half if he wants to taste more success at the highest level.

Still, there is no denying that Chiesa would be a good signing for the Magpies this summer. He would add more energy and dynamism to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attacking department.

At 26, Chiesa is about to enter his prime soon and could prove himself to be a success story at St. James’ Park if Howe can find a way to unlock the best out of him. However, there are some serious concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
