Stoke City loan man Sead Haksabanovic has been valued at £2.2m by Celtic, but Fotboll Direkt states it’s unlikely he starts next season with either the Potters or his parent club.

Stoke City signed winger Haksabanovic last summer as part of their significant recruitment drive.

As has been evident over the course of this season, said overhaul was a big failure. As a result, it means the Potters are poised for another busy transfer window as they look to make a long-awaited push up the Championship table – should they survive.

Loan man Haksabanovic hasn’t made a particularly strong impact either. He’s managed a goal and two assists in 21 games across all competitions, operating as winger, striker or attacking midfielder.

Now, an update on his summer transfer fate has emerged.

Swedish news outlet Fotboll Direkt reports that the Sweden-born Montenegro international has decided he will not be staying with Stoke City beyond the end of his loan. Parent club Celtic are willing to let him go too, with a price tag of 30 million Swedish Krona (around £2.2m) set.

Who is this?

A clean slate for all

If there was any doubt before, this report seems to confirm that Haksabanovic is poised for a fresh start this summer. His Stoke City loan has been underwhelming and it seems unlikely that he returns to the fold at Celtic.

That paves the way for the 24-year-old former West Ham prospect to start afresh.

The Potters will be looking to do the same. They’ll be embarking on another important summer transfer window to try and avoid another campaign of fighting it out towards the bottom end of the Championship.

A disastrous recruitment drive leaves them in a tough position, even if survival is secured. It’ll be a busy few months for Stoke City and the stakes are seriously high, as another window like last summer’s could leave them in danger of a drop to League One when the new campaign comes around.
