Stoke City loan pair Luke Cundle and Ki-Jana Hoever were watched in ‘person’ by Wolves staff member Steve Davis on the final day, as detailed in a report by StokeOnTrentLive.

Stoke City will lose the duo following the end of the season as they head back to Molineux. Their situations with the Midlands outfit are up in air right now with the summer transfer window on the horizon.

Their parent club have a big decision to make on both of their futures ahead of next term in the Premier League. The Potters ended up finishing 17th in the Championship table and were six points above the drop zone in the end.

As per StokeOnTrentLive, Wolves’ pathways manager Davis, who has been at Crewe Alexandra and Leyton Orient in the past, took a close look at both Cundle and Hoever against Bristol City last time out at the Bet365 Stadium. The hosts won 4-0.

Stoke City loan pair latest

Stoke City landed Cundle in January to bolster their options in the middle of the park and he went on to make 16 appearances in the league, chipping in with two goals.

He has been on the books at Wolves since they signed him in 2014, having previously been at Warrington Town and Burnley.

The 22-year-old has since played seven times for the first-team and has also been loaned out to Swansea City and Plymouth Argyle in the Championship to get some game time under his belt.

Cundle has worked under Steven Schumacher twice now but it remains to be seen whether they will link up with each other again in the next campaign. His contract expires in 2026 after he penned fresh terms in 2022.

As for Hoever, Wolves need to weigh up his options and he has been with Stoke City since January 2023.

He has played 61 appearances for the Staffordshire outfit and has found the net on eight occasions.

The right wing-back has been a useful player over the past season-and-a-half but like Cundle, it is up in the air whether he will return.

Hoever played for AZ Alkmaar, Ajax and Liverpool before moving to Molineux in 2020 and he has also had a temporary stint away at PSV in the past to boost his development.

Stoke City’s summer ahead

Stoke City are yet to officially publish their retained list but it is expected to be a busy summer on the transfer front.

It was an underwhelming season for the Potters and they were too close to the bottom three for comfort, although they did manage to claw themselves away comfortably in the end.

Cundle and Hoever have both been useful players and Wolves need to decide whether they are ready to make the step up into their plans or whether they should let them depart.
