According to The Mirror, rumoured Tottenham target Ivan Toney has informed interested clubs that he wants a salary of £250,000 per week.

With Toney set to enter the final year of his contract this summer, the striker is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in the transfer window.

Over the past couple of months, various outlets have suggested that Tottenham are interested in the 27-year-old and that they are ready to battle the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelsea for his signature (HITC).

Just last week, Sports Lens also claimed that the Lilywhites heirarchy are big fans of the England international and see him as a good fit for their system.

However, the publication added that Spurs have no intention of getting involved in a bidding war for Toney and would only push ahead with a move for him if the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal do not get involved.

Ivan Toney demands huge wages

The Mirror have now claimed that Toney has made it clear to suitors that he wants a quarter of a million pounds per week to sign on the dotted line.

The report says that the striker’s wage demands have put off Man Utd, who are now reconsidering their interest in the Brentford star.

I cannot see Tottneham being prepared to offer £250,000 per week to Toney as that would make the striker the club’s highest earner, although one would expect Son Heung-min to get a pay hike along with a new contract soon.

Offering that sort of wage to Toney would create a bit of disharmony in the dressing room, given the relatively low salary that the likes of Vicario, Udogie, Sarr and a few others are on.
