Report: Spurs-linked midfielder agrees personal terms with another PL club

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who has repeatedly been mooted as a target for Tottenham, has agreed on personal terms with Leeds United ahead of a potential transfer. As recently as this Saturday, CBS Sports reported Ben Jacobs named Spurs as one of the clubs interested in McKennie, with the journalist adding that the USA international was hopeful that a suitable offer would arrive before the transfer window closes. (Photo by Gualter Fatia/Getty Images) Gazzetta dello Sport subsequently stated on Monday that Tottenham’s North London rivals, Arsenal, were also exploring a move for the 24-year-old. However, over the last couple of days, it has emerged that Leeds stepped up their chase for McKennie, with Jesse March said to be keen on uniting with his countryman (Daily Mail). Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Leeds have taken a major step towards landing the Juve star, who has allegedly agreed on personal terms ahead of a move to Elland Road. The journalist, however, revealed that there is still some distance between Leeds’ and Juve’s valuations of McKennie, with the Premier League club offering €28m (£24.6m) for the attacking midfielder while the Serie A giants are insisting on €35m (£30.8m). With Pape Matar Sarr now looking likely to stay, the North London club will want to put off signing any new midfielder until the summer. Besides, given that we are already over the limit for non-homegrown players for the Champions League and with Pedro Porro likely to arrive through the door, it will not make sense to add another non-homegrown player to the squad.
