Rangers told in-form £10k-a-week star 'lacks composure' under Beale, despite 3-0 win

Neil McCann has told BBC Live’s coverage of Rangers’ 3-0 win on Wednesday night that in-form Ibrox attacker Fashion Sakala is guilty of lacking composure at times – despite Michael Beale’s side securing a 10th win in his 11th match.

A brace from Alfredo Morelos, who now has six goals and four assists in Beale’s 11 games, as well as a neat finish from Malik Tillman saw Rangers secure another win. The remain nine points behind Celtic, but Rangers are getting better.

In the nine Premiership games Beale has taken charge of, 25-year-old Sakala has started seven times. He has scored three times for Beale’s men, and laid on an impressive five assists. One of those five came at Tynecastle on Wednesday.

An impressive performance, arguably Rangers’ best since Beale returned as manager. Given, they easily beat an in-form Hearts side. But, £10k-a-week Sakala was criticised by McCann last night – despite the Zambian’s two disallowed goals.

“Zander Clark has been the saviour for Hearts, keeping them in the game, but he drops it there. Sakala can sometimes lack composure. It’s another let-off for this Hearts side,” McCann said, after Sakala blazed over from close range.

McCann: In-form Rangers attacker Sakala is guilty of lacking composure

Sakala has been excellent since Beale arrived. Like many Rangers players, Sakala’s stats have improved following the arrival of the Rangers manager. In his previous 13 outings before Beale came in this term, he scored one, created one.

So now, he sits on four goals and six assists in 24 games. Not great stats, but his form under Beale has transformed. He now has more competition behind him in the form of Todd Cantwell after the Englishman arrived from Norwich City.

But, Sakala has something not many other Rangers attackers have. Utter pace. Ryan Kent has the skill, Cantwell and Scott Wright have the creativity and technique. Tillman is more central. Sakala has that pace on the counter attack.
