Report: Wolves ace in talks with three clubs, £13m wonderkid may be his replacement

Jorge Mendes is offering Wolves winger Adama Traore around Serie A but table-topping Napoli currently have no plans to sign the Premier League speed-machine during the January transfer window, according to Area Napoli.

One of the most influential agents in world football will have had easier times in his career. With the whole Cristiano Ronaldo situation very much ongoing, Traore’s own uncertain future ensures that it’s unlikely to be a quiet Christmas in the Mendes household.

New Molineux boss Julen Lopetegui admitted to the Express and Star recently that he would be ‘very happy’ to see Traore put pen to paper on an extension, but it seems that not everyone at Wolves shares the former Sevilla boss’ enthusiasm about such an idea.

Mendes, meanwhile, is already in talks with three clubs regarding a cut-price January deal. Traore’s market value has fallen quite substantially since being valued at a staggering £80 million just two years ago. The super-agent has been in touch with Juventus and Serie A champions AC Milan.

Napoli too. Luciano Spalletti’s Scudettofavourites are, however, highly unlikely to seize such an opportunity during the winter window. Napoli, the report says, do not plan on making any high-profile additions to a beautifully-balanced squad midway through the campaign. Even if speculation surrounding Mexican forward Hirving Lozano means a new wide player may be ‘a must’ at some point in the near future.

Lozano is under contract until 2024. La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are reportedly watching closely.

Traore, meanwhile, has started just six Premier League games all season. He has found game time easier to come by since the sacking of Bruno Lage, however; scoring the opener in an eventual 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in October.

Wolves appear to be planning for life after Traore already; a number of talented forwards and wide players on their radar. Universidad de Chile starlet Dario Osorio remains on the radar. Middlesbrough’s Isaiah Jones is another option.

According to FC Inter News, Wolves are now in talks with £13 million-rated Racing Club whizzkid Carlos ‘Charly’ Alcaraz too. A balletic attacking midfielder, Alcaraz can play through the centre or wide on the right.

The 19-year-old scored an impressive nine goals for Racing in the 2022 Argentine season. He is also on the radar of Inter and AC Milan, plus Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
