Hornets supporter Paul Chapman has won a framed 2023/24 Watford shirt signed by this season's squad after entering the April prize draw run in association with club partner Lowr, the fan sustainability platform.

Paul won the prize by logging his travel to and from Watford matches using the new sustainability section which has been integrated within the official club app.

This comes with supporter travel accounting for the biggest part of the club's carbon emissions.

A Watford fan for around 12 years after first attending with his children through a schools intiative, Paul was present for 100 per cent of what he called the 'Troy Deeney era'.

Paul also spent a few seasons attending the majority of away games, and still goes to Vicarage Road, with sustainability now influencing his travel decisions.

"It made me think about how I get there, and if it is travel by internal combustion engine, or if it is via train, or via electric," Paul told watfordfc.com.

"It prompts you to think about those things when you are doing your leisure activities."

He continued: "I was very impressed with Watford's sustainability push, so when I saw it come up on the app I submitted a few journeys into it.

"I have an electric vehicle, so I use that, and I want to be able to use some solar so that we are reducing our dependency on fossil fuels. Any activity where I can use that, I will.

"To be able to see that registered and be part of a sustainability topic is nice.

"Any company or business supporting that goal will get my vote on it, as it is something we have all got to do."

The framed shirt is the first piece of Watford memorabilia Paul will own, and he already has a good idea of where he will put it.

"I was thinking about this earlier on. I do a lot of working from home, so I was thinking I am going to put it behind me for my Teams calls. It will be pride of place," he smiled.

"My daughter Alice will be very jealous! She has got a Watford shirt but she hasn't got any signatures."

Fans using the app can collect points to earn tickets for the draw, up to a maximum of four each month.

Up for grabs in the May draw is a bundle from the club's sustainability merchanise range, as well as a personalised note from a player.

Ways to earn points include logging travel to and from Watford matches, committing to a sustainable pledge and answering weekly quiz questions correctly.

Other ways are reading an article and answering a question at the end, making a recipe and logging each of your servings and purchasing a planet-friendly product and logging the swap.

Even though the season is over, fans are still able to log their travel from the 2023/24 campaign.
