Simba: Dreams FC switched on for domestic push

Dreams FC attacking midfielder Sylvester Simba insists they are ready to make a big push in the Ghana Premier League following their impressive CAF Confederation Cup exploits.
Still Believe were making their continental debut after winning the FA Cup last season and they defied all expectations by reaching the semi-finals of Africa’s second-tier club competition.
Abdul Karim Zito’s side bowed out to Zamalek after suffering a 3-0 home defeat in the second leg on Sunday, having held the Egyptian giants to a 0-0 draw in Cairo seven days earlier.
The Accra outfit will now shift their focus to matters back home as they sit 16th in the league standings, 21 points adrift of table-topping Samartex with four games in hand.
Should Dreams FC pick up maximum points from their outstanding fixtures, they will climb up to third place above Aduana Stars, who are currently on 42 points.
Simba admitted the team ran out of gas against the White Knights, but declared they are determined to start challenging for honours domestically, starting with the FA Cup quarter-final clash with Soccer Intellectuals on Thursday.
“We were competing in three major competitions (Ghana Premier League, FA Cup and CAF Confederation Cup), there was a bit of fatigue in the team,” the 22-year-old told Kessben FM.
“We were used to our African opponent than the GPL teams. But once our Africa journey is over, our main focus will be on the league.
“We assure our fans that we will step up in the league. You will start to see Dreams winning games home and away.”
