Step One

Chelsea's pursuit of young prodigy Estêvão Willian appears to be progressing steadily, as according to reports yesterday, we have reached a "verbal agreement" over personal terms with the 17-year-old highly coveted winger.

That's not really anything too seriously binding, but it is a good first step that at least indicates that we're in with a chance to winning the sweepstakes for his signature. Clubs all around Europe are watching his situation.

Reports of an actual bid have also picked up pace of late, with Fabrizio Romano joining the chorus, too, talking about a €32m deal, plus add-ons. This matches the €30+25m claims from South America, and is also in the ballpark of the move arranged by Real Madrid for Estêvão's teammate at Palmeiras, Endrick (€35+25m). I guess that's the going rate for the latest and greatest wonderkids from the wonderkid factory.

There's plenty of work left to do to charm Estêvão to Chelsea, but at least we're trying.
