Offers from Premier League – Wolves, Crystal Palace and Brentford in tussle for potential free signing

Last month, Estadio Deportivo reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Brentford are all in the picture to sign Athletic's Álex Berenguer.

The winger's current deal expires in June and his future still needs to be sorted out.

El Correo say Berenguer's contract situation has resulted in interest from Wolves, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Leicester City and other clubs.

The Premier League trio are mentioned in a report that focuses on Villarreal's interest in the 28-year-old.

Marcelino García Toral knows the Spaniard from his time at the Basque club and wants to reunite with him at Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine, as well as Sevilla, made contact to try to sign him for free in the summer window. Osasuna had also looked at the attacker before backing out due to his salary demands.

Berenguer has 'offers from the Premier League and Italy', and from England, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Leicester are interested in him. El Correo doesn't specifically mention if Gary O’Neil's side and the two London clubs are the ones to have made offers.

The player's desire is to continue at Athletic, and the two parties have been negotiating for some time, without reaching an agreement for the renewal. It'll be interesting to see how this case develops in the next few weeks.

Berenguer has managed seven goals and three assists from 38 games this season.
