In a recent report, Marca revealed that Barcelona are keeping tabs on Valencia midfielder Pepelu this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club have identified the Spanish midfield ace as a target for the upcoming transfer window.

Pepelu’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season

The 25-year-old is enjoying a solid campaign at the Spanish club as he has produced a series of dominant performances at the heart of their midfield. Pepelu has banged in six goals and earned one assist in 34 appearances for Valencia this season across all fronts.

The Spanish talent has anchored the midfield with conviction and has done well to average 2.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions,1.9 clearances, 1.0 shots and 1.6 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been careful when distributing possession from midfield after completing 81.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Valencia will expire in the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for the Catalan club to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this season.

What Will Pepelu Bring To Barcelona?

Pepelu is a decent tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession for his side in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can even shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Spanish sensation has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so.

Pepelu would bring more bite and steel to Barcelona‘s midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp in the coming years. At 25, Pepelu has got his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan club to pursue in the summer transfer window.

Pepelu already knows La Liga well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life at Barcelona if the Catalan giants can find a way to get him on board when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
