Molenbeek were already 3-0 down when the ball hit the 26-year-old.

He was eventually substituted nine minutes into first-half stoppage time.

Reine-Adelaide was then taken to hospital to be checked over.

Molenbeek manager Yannick Ferrera explained his fears after the game.

He said post-match: “Jeff was unconscious for about ten minutes. We fear a brain haemorrhage.”

But this was later denied by the player’s entourage who told L’Équipe: "Jeff is fine. There is no hemorrhage or after-effects.”

His former club Lyon were one of a number of concerned fans.

They posted: “Olympique Lyonnais is with you at this difficult time.
