BBC pundit Garth Crooks has made a big claim about Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

The Englishman has been the Blues’ best player this season. He has been incredible for them all campaign and found the net again in the 5-0 win over West Ham United.

Palmer has been earning rave reviews from everyone who has watched him play. Crooks has delivered his verdict on the Chelsea star now.

Garth Crooks has been reluctant to say one thing about Chelsea’s Cole Palmer

Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

Everyone knew that the 22-year-old was an amazing footballer with immense potential, but nobody quite expected him to do what he has done this season.

Palmer has scored 24 goals and has provided 13 assists for Chelsea since he joined them. He has undoubtedly been their best player and without him, they would probably be in the bottom half of the table now.

The Englishman was very good against West Ham in Chelsea’s 5-0 win against them.

Garth Crooks was blown away by the attacker’s performance, so much so that he named him in his Team of the Week alongside the likes of Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard.

The BBC pundit also made a comment that he says he has been reluctant to make for a while now.

Crooks has boldly claimed that Palmer is the best talent England has produced since Glenn Hoddle, who was a phenomenal player back in the day.

He wrote on BBC Sport: “I've been very reluctant to say this as I don't want to put any more pressure on the lad than already exists but I think Cole Palmer is the best talent this country has produced since Glenn Hoddle.

“Palmer scored his 24th goal of the season like it was a training exercise and plays his game with such ease he never seems stretched. He sees the pass well before anyone else has seen it and then cuts the opposition in half with it.

“The ball for Nicolas Jackson, whose mis-control landed at the feet of Conor Gallagher to score, was so good and precise it startled him. He then clipped the most glorious through ball for Mykhailo Mudryk, who squandered the chance but by this time it didn't matter as the game was well beyond the Hammers.

There’s one difference between Cole Palmer and Phil Foden

When you talk about the greatest players England has produced, Phil Foden is right up there.

The Manchester City star has been amazing this season. He has scored 24 goals too and was recently named the Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers Association.

Crooks, who boldly claimed that Palmer is the best talent England has produced since Glenn Hoddle, named the one difference between the Chelsea star and Foden.

“Manchester City's Phil Foden is talented but Cole Palmer is gifted,” he said.

“My hope is the England manager makes the most of these players. History suggests the national team has struggled with talent like this in the past.”

Gareth Southgate has the best England squad in years at his disposal, and he should back himself to win the Euros in Germany this summer. Anything other than that will be viewed as a failure.
