Leyton Orient chairman Nigel Travis has said they are in ‘discussions’ with potential new investors.

Leyton Orient are looking to bring in some external investment to help grow the club.

The London outfit are currently operating in League One and are sat in 10th place.

Travis has said, as per a report by The Athletic: “We’re in the middle of trying to bring new investors in and we’ve had lots of good discussions. We’re not looking to sell completely, more like up to 30 per cent. We need more money to finance what we’re doing. I intend to put more money in but we need more investors to tackle the fairly aggressive plans we have.

“When we bought the club in 2017, my goal was to make sure the club was thriving in 100 years’ time. I won’t be here to see that, but that’s the vision.”

Leyton Orient plans

Richie Wellens has done a great job at Leyton Orient on a small budget compared to other teams in the third tier.

The O’s were promoted from League Two last year and have adapted well to the step up a division. They have fallen just short of the play-offs.

Getting some more money would help them grow in the future and have more of a pulling power in the transfer market.

Travis took over at Brisbane Road back in 2017 after a leading a consortium and they have been promoted twice during his time at the helm. The Woodford-born businessman has worked for companies such as Esso, Rolls-Royce, Blockbuster, Burger King and Papa John’s in the past.

Leyton Orient have a lot of potential with their London location. There is no reason why they can’t go on and push themselves into the Championship down the line.

Teams like Brentford and Luton Town have managed to claw themselves into the Premier League so there is no reason why that can’t be done either at some point.

The O’s have a big summer ahead with both comings and goings expected. They have a few players out of contract in late June such as Ruel Sotiriou, Tom James and Dan Happe, whilst the likes of Sol Brynn and Shaq Forde will return to their parent clubs when their loans expire.

Wellens’ side have two more fixtures left to get through this term. First up is a home clash against Fleetwood Town this weekend before an away trip to Shrewsbury Town on the final day.
