Port Vale will hold talks with Lewis Cass when he returns from his Stockport County loan, as detailed on their official club website.

Port Vale have a decision to make regarding the future of the defender this summer.

Cass, 24, was allowed to leave on a temporary basis to Edgeley Park on the final day of the January transfer window.

The Valiants have published their retained list and have revealed that he will have a ‘conversation’ with Darren Moore regarding his situation.

Stockport County brought in Cass this past winter to add more depth to their defensive department as he can play right-back or centre-back.

He went on to play nine matches for the Hatters to help them get promoted from League Two along with Wrexham and Mansfield Town.

However, it remains to be seen whether Dave Challinor’s side are interested in bringing him back to Edgeley Park as they prepare for life in League One.

Port Vale have been relegated to the fourth tier and keeping hold of him could be a shrewd move as they look to bounce back with an immediate promotion under Moore.

Cass moved to Vale Park in 2022 and has since made 71 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with two goals.

The North East-born man is a product of the Newcastle United academy and rose up through the ranks of the Premier League outfit.

He never played for the first-team of the Toon Army though and was loaned out to Hartlepool United and Port Vale to get some experience before the latter snapped him up permanently.

The Valiants have announced the exits of Jayson Leutwiler, Gavin Massey and James Wilson, as well as loanees Dan Gore, Kacper Lopata, Alex Mighten and Jensen Weir. Uche Ikpeazu and Deklan Wynne remain in talks over staying.

Cass’ future is up in the air though and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next term.
