Swindon Town are in talks with Sean McGurk over a new deal, as detailed in a report by the Swindon Advertiser.

Swindon Town swooped to land the attacker from Leeds United in the January transfer window.

McGurk, 21, penned a short-term deal with the League Two side running until the end of the season.

The Swindon Advertiser report the Robins are in ‘negotiations’ with the Liverpudlian about extending his stay in Wiltshire.

Swindon Town landed McGurk this past winter to boost their attacking department.

He has since made nine appearances in the league for the Robins and has chipped in with two goals.

Keeping hold of him ahead of the next campaign would be a boost for the fourth tier outfit as they look ahead to next term.

Gavin Gunning has been in interim charge at the County Ground since Michael Flynn’s exit and they have a big decision to make on who to bring in as their new permanent manager.

McGurk was on the books at Liverpool and Wigan Athletic before Leeds United snapped him up in 2021.

He went on to play 48 times for the Whites’ Under-21’s, scoring 10 goals and picking up seven assists.

The winger didn’t make a senior appearance for the Yorkshire outfit though and was given the green light to head out the exit door when Swindon Town came calling.

His switch down south has given him the chance to get regular senior football under his belt and he has a bright future ahead of him.

It turned out to be a disappointing season for the Robins and they finished in 19th after their 3-3 draw at home to Morecambe on the final day.
