Selles loved the atmosphere on show in Reading's final-day win, dubbed 'Dia Del Jefe' before the game.

The Royals ended an eventful season on a high with a 3-2 victory against Blackpool.

Blackpool scored early on to put the visitors ahead, but Sam Smith equalised before the break. Harvey Knibbs made it 2-1 in the second half before Femi Azeez made it 3-1. Blackpool scored a bizarre second goal after a defensive mix-up but the game ended 3-2.

The Royals finished the season in 17th. That's an amazing achievement considering where we were in November.

On a day when we celebrated Ruben Selles, he said the result was a perfect example of our season. Here is what he had to say, he spoke to the Reading Chronicle.

Selles on the win

"We had the same against Burton, [off for] the first five or 10 minutes and I don't like that. We need to correct that and how we manage games will be a key point. We managed a lot of moments like that in the season and we came back, scored before half-time, and came back stronger. Mamadi made a good impact today. It was a perfect example of our season."

Selles on Mamadi Camara

"The problem with Mama is that he has lost the most games through injury. He had an injury against Cheltenham in September and took 10 weeks to come back. Then he played 35 minutes against Fleetwood and had an injury and infection.

"He has not been fully fit until the last five weeks and we have been waiting for him. He is a perfect player for the way we want to play. He needs to keep himself fit and get himself on the pitch."

Selles on supporters

"We all know how difficult it has been so it's the recognition of hard work and people that have been trying to perform. It has been really nice.

"I think it is a team effort. The way the team play and run and perform for the crowd. The energy and atmosphere we create is amazing, so it was good that people made the effort to come and say goodbye and thank you. I hope we set the foundation for the next season."
