In a recent report, Il Bianconero mentioned that Newcastle United are showing interest in Juventus starlet Dean Huijsen this summer. It has been claimed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Spanish centre-back, who is currently playing on loan at AS Roma.

Huijsen’s Impressive Loan Spell At Roma This Season

Huijsen has enjoyed a decent loan spell at Roma after he put in some solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 19-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Italian club this season, netting two goals and grabbing one assist in all competitions.

The Amsterdam-born talent has caught the eye at times when defending inside his half based on his average of 0.8 tackles and 2.0 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back after completing 87.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at his parent club Juventus will run out in the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.

Newcastle United Are Showing Interest In Huijsen: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Huijsen is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well for his team when defending inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. The Spanish whizkid is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. Standing at 1.97m, he can use his robust frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air.

At the moment, Huijsen is enjoying his football while on loan at Roma. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to settle into life in English football if the Magpies manage to get him on board this summer.

At 19, Huijsen has the potential to become a future star at Newcastle United as long as they are willing to be patient with his development. All in all, there is no doubt that he is a prospect to watch out for in the future, so the Tyneside club should focus on getting a deal done for him later this year.
