The72’s writers offer their Stoke City vs Bristol City prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

Stoke City are sat in 18th place in the table and have booked their place in the Championship again for next season. They have managed to climb away from the bottom three over recent weeks.

It has been a tough year for the Potters but former Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher has managed to keep them up.

They are unbeaten in their last three games and picked up an impressive 1-0 away win at promotion chasing Southampton last time out so they are ending this season on a high as they look ahead to the summer and the next transfer window now.

As for Bristol City, they are also in decent form under Liam Manning. They won 2-0 at home to already relegated Rotherham United last weekend after goals by Tommy Conway and Scott Twine.

They are 11th and have the chance to finish in the top half if they were to pick up all three points at the bet365 Stadium and teams around them like Coventry City, Preston North End and Cardiff City all fail to win.

The Robins have missed out on the play-offs again though and will be keen to bridge the gap between them and the top six next term.

“Stoke City will be in confident mood after going three matches without defeat under Steven Schumacher which has seen them avoid going down to League One this term. They were in deep trouble but are safe now.

“Bristol City are on a roll and will fancy their chances next season if they can keep their momentum going. The Robins are unbeaten in their last seven outings and have lost only once in their last nine and that was against 5th place West Brom.

“It will be a close one but I can see the visitors edging it.”

“Ultimately, I see this dead rubber game ending level, but there’s reason to be excited for both these clubs looking to the future.”
