'Negotiations did not go further' – Everton put a quick end to transfer talks, not interested in convoluted formulas

For much of this year, the Spanish media have regularly talked about Barcelona's interest in Everton star Amadou Onana.

On March 21st, Sport reported Barca sporting director Deco was aware that the Toffees are willing to sell him in the summer, but his side can't meet their €60m request.

A day later, we covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side could offer one of their own players to Everton, as part of the deal for the 22-year-old. They were ready to send Fermín López, Clément Lenglet, Sergiño Dest or Ansu Fati to the Merseyside club.

A fresh report from Sport claims the Catalan club have found out from Sean Dyche's side the fee needed to buy Onana.

It's further claimed the Blaugrana have tried to bring down the Belgium international's asking price by offering their own players to Everton. However, the 'negotiations did not go further' as the Premier League side were clearly not pleased with this formula.

Onana is still liked a lot by the Camp Nou's sporting leaders and Barca, led by Deco, have to come up with a new formula to convince Everton.

That formula will likely have to involve a big pile of money without a Barcelona outcast used to reduce it.
