It would appear that Gary Neville doesn’t particularly care too much for Nottingham Forest.

Since Forest have returned to the Premier League he’s often shared some opinions that have riled the club’s fan base.

This week isn’t an exception – and Neville seems in no mood to change his views on the club.

Forest have been in the dock this week after a controversial post on X shortly after a 2-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

The post drew critique from Alan Shearer and Forest have also had to take some negativity from other pundits.

Earlier today it was claimed that Ian Wright had called Evangelos Marinakis ‘out of control’ – and Forest are seemingly on a warpath right now.

Now, Neville is back on the scene to make some negative claims about Forest – with Mark Clattenburg once again in his sights.

What Gary Neville has now said about Mark Clattenburg

Well, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Clattenburg had sent Neville off a dozen times when he was a player but that isn’t the case.

Now, Neville has delivered more angst towards Clattenburg over his role as a referee analyst at Forest.

The former Manchester United and England man said after Sunday’s escapade that Clattenburg should resign from his role at Forest – and now he’s advised why.

Neville said on The Overlap: “The reason I asked him to resign is because if he actually saw that Luton tweet, he actually has to distance himself from it or be part of it. If he's part of that I'm like wow.

“The second thing for me is football. If you're a leader of a football club, since Mark Clattenburg has come in, in the last 10 games, they have won one match. Before the last 10 games, they won four. You never give football players or employees in any business a get-out or an excuse. Ever. He has given them an excuse to not win.

“That might sound really crazy but when you put that negativity drain in, when you have your manager and players – Neco Williams is probably a really good lad, but he's now talking about and probably going to get in trouble for it, referees. The manager is talking about referees. The fans are. They're all consumed with this idea that everyone is against us. It's not working for them the strategy.

“What they need to do is switch their mentality completely and forget about referees. Get Clattenburg out of the director’s box so the camera stops going on him, concentrate on football because they are going to go down based upon this if they are not careful.”

Neville gripes about Forest are wide of the mark

What Neville has said about Clattenburg doesn’t make a deal of sense and it would appear people are misinterpreting his role.

The former referee hasn’t come in to provide Forest with excuses but to try and help the understanding of why decisions are going against the Reds.

Clattenburg is around on a matchday really to oversee the match and aid Forest when it comes to their understanding of whether they’ve been caught out by a bad decision.

It’s purely coincidental that Forest have only won two games – Neville got that bit wrong – since Clattenburg came into the club.

It seems as though Neville and a few other of his media companions are wanting Forest to get relegated and hopefully, the team can pull together and get enough points to stick around in the Premier League.
