Fulham and West Ham United are now getting linked to Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.

This information is brought by journalist Chico Garcia, who claims both sides are interested in the 25-year-old.

The main subject in this story is Carlos Miguel’s intention to leave Corinthians, since he’s their reserve goalkeeper and has been waiting for an opportunity to start for a long time.

Goalkeeper Cássio, who’s a legend at the club, has been making several mistakes lately, and still hasn’t lost his position, creating an uncomfortable situation in the squad.

It’s reported that Carlos Miguel will leave if he receives offers. And while Fulham, West Ham and Monaco are all said to be interested in him, they could easily afford the signing because of his €4m release clause.

Now a couple of factors must be pointed out.

First that it’s quite convenient that while Carlos Miguel puts pressure on Corinthians to play more, two Premier League clubs show up wanting him. We wonder whether Fulham and West Ham would actually be interested in a player who is a reserve in the Brazilian league. This wouldn’t be the first time the Hammers are linked to Corinthians players this year, as Yuri Alberto and Wesley were also mentioned.

Then there’s also the fact that Chico Garcia’s video was recorded before last night’s game, when Corinthians lost to Argentinos Juniors 1-0 with a goal for which Cássio could’ve done a lot better. After the match, the goalkeeper exploded, saying it’s not all his fault, and even teased about leaving the club.

This situation may result in him being benched at the weekend, with Carlos Miguel given a chance, and it would be no surprise if all the rumours disappear once that happens.

For Fulham and West Ham, it may just be a case of being dragged into a Brazilian drama which has nothing to do with them.
