Arne Slot could well be Liverpool's next manager.
The Feyenoord boss is said to be at the top of the Reds' list of potential Jurgen Klopp replacements and negotiations with the Eredivisie club are said to be underway.
Slot's arrival at Liverpool is bound to bring about mixed reactions across the footballing world. After all, he's unproven at the very top level having only ever managed in the Eredivisie, but, with that being said, he has done a fantastic job with Feyenoord who will surely be gutted to potentially be losing a manager who's done such a fantastic job.
However, Feyenoord fans may not be the only supporters who are frustrated by this appointment.
Leeds fans may be frustrated by Arne Slot to Liverpool
Spare a thought for Leeds United fans at this time.
The Whites are currently battling away to return to the Premier League, but this time 18 months ago, they were locked in talks to bring Arne Slot to Elland Road.
Slot is now in line for arguably the biggest job in football, while Leeds are in the second-tier, and we can only imagine where Leeds could be right now if they'd brought Slot in – he'd surely have done a better job than Javi Gracia.
To make matters even worse, Slot will be going to Liverpool to link-up with another man who could've been at Leeds under different circumstances – Cody Gakpo.
Cast your mind back to summer transfer deadline day in 2022 and you'll remember that Leeds were poised to sign Gakpo before PSV Eindhoven pulled the plug.
Now, Gakpo and Slot are likely to link up at Liverpool, and given how Slot utilises such an exciting attacking style, he could be the perfect coach to get the best out of Gakpo at Anfield, and, as his fellow countryman, they should be able to link up brilliantly.
Both Slot and Gakpo have been described as 'amazing' in the past, and they could become something of a definitive double-act at Liverpool, but, in another world, they'd be working magic together at Elland Road, and that has to be very frustrating if you're a Leeds supporter.
If Victor Orta had pushed harder, Gakpo and Slot could've been at Leeds right now, but instead, they're about to potentially pair up brilliantly at Liverpool.
