West Ham United have been talking to Julen Lopetegui 'for months' about the prospect of replacing David Moyes, with their interest not a new thing by any means.

That's according to Mundo Deportivo, relaying information from EFE, who say West Ham and Lopetegui have long been in discussions rather than recently opening them.

The newspaper explains that West Ham's interest in the Spanish coach as a replacement for Moyes is nothing new.

Lopetegui has been free since leaving Wolves last summer due to a lack of investment, the sale of important players and a lack of guarantees over their situation with FFP and PSR.

He's been keen to get back to work, particularly in England, and has 'held talks' with West Ham about potentially replacing David Moyes in the summer. The insistence, though, is that the interest is nothing new.

Mundo add that Lopetegui has made no secret of his desire to return to the Premier League and has spent his time since leaving Wolves living in England 'to perfect the language'.

There's also been interest from Italy, AC Milan in particular, and from Germany, but it seems his focus is very much on the Premier League.

That gives West Ham an opportunity and talks have already been held about a potential move to the London Stadium this summer.
