The72’s writers offer their Peterborough United vs Fleetwood Town prediction ahead of the League One clash on Tuesday.

Peterborough United head into their upcoming League One clash on the back of their 5-0 loss away at Oxford United over the weekend. They are sat in 4th place after the damaging defeat.

The Posh are seven points inside the top six. However, they are nine off the top two so will be keen on heading into the play-off in good form.

As for Fleetwood Town, they are 23rd in the table above Carlisle United. They are six points from safety with just three games left.

Charlie Adam’s side won 2-0 at home to Northampton Town last time out to keep their hopes of survival alive. Promise Omochere and Bosun Lawal scored their goals against the Cobblers.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Peterborough United were absolutely woeful against Oxford United in their last outing and will want to bounce back with a positive result.

“The Posh have enough quality to beat their upcoming opponents but need to make sure they turn up. They need to head into the play-offs in decent form to ensure they don’t slip up again like they did last year at the semi-finals stage against Sheffield Wednesday.

“Fleetwood need to win at London Road to keep their hopes of staying up alive. They needed their victory against Northampton Town to keep them in with a chance but I think they have left it too late.

“I can see the Cod Army falling to a loss against Peterborough and taking a step closer to League Two.”

James Ray

“That was an abysmal result for Peterborough United against Oxford. They have no choice but to come up with a big response here, and I think they’ll get it.

“Posh have been prone to shocking losses and banana skins in recent years but Darren Ferguson will have to drive a response out of his team. Against a relegation-threatened Fleetwood Town, they have to win.

“The Cod Army will be looking to claim a big result of their own against a wounded Posh side, but I think they’ll be beaten here.”

Peterborough United vs Fleetwood Town prediction: 3-0
