Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers are the latest sides to show an interest in Dunfermline Athletic left-back Josh Edwards, as per the Daily Record.

Scottish defender Edwards is out of contract this summer and he looks to have plenty of options south of the border with Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers now linked.

The 23-year-old has been operating as a wing-back, full-back and centre-back for Dunfermline this season, chipping in with three goals and nine assists along the way.

His eye-catching performances drew links with third-tier pair Lincoln City and Oxford United earlier this month. Now, the Daily Record states the Tangerines and the Chairboys are also keen.

Barnsley failed with a winter but as his deal winds down, Edwards may yet get a move to the EFL.

It is said that an extension option has been taken up to keep him contracted to Dunfermline until the summer of 2025. That might not be enough to ward off interest from Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers, but it would ensure the Scottish outfit get a fee for his services.

Who is this?

Heading south?

It remains to be seen just what comes of Edwards’ future but one thing for sure is that he looks to have plenty of options in the EFL.

After a winter bid was fended off, Dunfermline look to be a bit more susceptible to offers this summer. And, with Blackpool, Wycombe Wanderers, Lincoln City and Oxford United all queuing up, Edwards will be able to pick his next step after a starring spell in his native.

He’s shown a creative threat from both full-back and wing-back that will have certainly caught the eye. Players in those roles are becoming more and more prevalent in attacking phases and Edwards shows that he can play that role.

He could prove to be a pretty shrewd addition as he enters the last 12 months of his deal, though Dunfermline still won’t be looking to let him go on the cheap.
