Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has said Rarmani Edmonds-Green has been playing through an Achilles issue recently.

Charlton Athletic left the defender out of their most recent League One clash against Wigan Athletic.

Edmonds-Green, 25, made the switch to The Valley during the January transfer window from Huddersfield Town.

Jones has shared this update regarding his condition, as per theofficial club website: “To be fair to him he’s been playing through a slight stiffness in his Achilles that’s curtailed stuff.

“I pick a team and I pick a bench that we believe can win us a game. There’s a big squad here now so there’s a lot of tough decisions I have to make, not so much for the team but actually the bench.”

Edmonds-Green was snapped up by Charlton to bolster their defensive department this past winter.

He faces competition for a place in the starting XI from the likes of Terell Thomas, Macaulay Gillesphey and Michael Hector.

The Yorkshireman has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Addicks so far.

Prior to his move to London, he spent his whole career to date on the books at Huddersfield and rose up through the academy ranks of the Championship outfit.

He played 55 times for their first-team and chipped in with three goals from the back.

Edmonds-Green also had loan spells away from the John Smith’s Stadium at Brighouse Town, Bromley, Swindon Town, Rotherham United and Wigan to get some experience under his belt.

He penned a two-and-a-half year deal with Charlton when he joined them a few months ago.

The Addicks have been in solid form since former Stoke City and Southampton manager Jones took over from Michael Appleton and he has lifted them away from trouble.

They have three more fixtures left to get through this term against Cambridge United, Shrewsbury Town and Wycombe Wanderers as they look to head into the summer on a high.

Charlton are 15th in the table and have 51 points on the board.

Their final few matches give Edmonds-Green to get some more minutes to help boost his fitness levels.
