Wrexham, Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United are interested in Notts County star Macaulay Langstaff, a report from The Wrexham Insider has claimed.

Wrexham are on the way up to League One after completing back-to-back promotions. Many expected 2022/23 National League title rivals Notts County to be right up there in League Two this season, but it hasn’t panned out like that.

The Magpies started well in the opening months but the exit of manager Luke Williams and a slide in form means they’ll be in the fourth-tier again next time around.

Their shortcomings wasn’t for a want of trying from leading talisman Langstaff though. After firing Notts to the EFL, the 27-year-old sits atop the League Two goalscorer standings with 28 goals in 45 games.

Now, it is claimed that old foes Wrexham are keen to offer him a step up.

The Wrexham Insider claims that the Red Dragons are interested in taking Langstaff up to League One with them. Another striker is wanted and after a minor interest last summer, they’re keen to revive their previous admirattion.

It is said that a fee would need to be a club-record one, while League One sides Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United are also keeping tabs on the Notts County star.

Who is this?

On the move?

After successfully stepping up from the National League to League Two, it could be that Langstaff makes another rise up the leagues this summer.

Wrexham and Notts County have been such close competitors in recent years, with Langstaff’s goals causing frequent headaches for Phil Parkinson’s side. Bringing him up to League One with them could make for a smart move for the North Welsh side, but time will tell if a deal is financially viable.

Notts are sure to put a big price tag on their leading scorer after another strong season. While Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United are said keen, it might not be a surprise if further interest emerges.

Such goalscoring will make Langstaff a hot commodity, and that will come at a price.

Wrexham will be quickly turning their attentions to gearing up for life in the third-tier and signing Langstaff would be a fantastic way of bolstering their ranks.
