The72’s writers offer their Mansfield Town vs Accrington Stanley prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Tuesday evening.
Mansfield Town battered promotion rivals MK Dons 4-1 away from home at the weekend, leaving them one win away from promotion to League One.
The Stags initially found themselves behind thanks to Max Dean’s opener, but strikes from Elliott Hewitt and James Gale either side of Davis Keillor-Dunn’s brace ensured a huge victory for Nigel Clough’s men. It kept them 3rd in the table, now five points clear of the Dons in 4th.
Accrington Stanley, on the other hand, suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to play-off chasing Doncaster Rovers on their travels.
Hakeeb Adelakun and Joe Ironside had the hosts two goals to the good at the break, with James Maxwell and Owen Bailey rounding off the scoring in the second half. Fortunately for John Doolan’s men they are in no danger of relegation sat 18th in League Two as things stand, 14 points clear of the drop zone.

“Clough’s men looked back to their best against MK Dons, and a similar performance on Tuesday should see them gain a vital three points.
“Of course, anything can happen, but back on home soil I am expecting Mansfield to get the job done.
“I am going for a comfortable victory for the hosts on this occasion, with the Stags sealing their place in the third tier for the first time since 2003.”

“Mansfield Town should be taking nothing less than three points from this. They’ve stabilised again after a tricky patch and after that thumping MK Dons win, they can seal promotion here.
“They’re against an Accrington Stanley side who they should beat too. It’s been a tough season for Stanley and some may have expected more from them, but after punching above their weight for a bit, things have slowed down somewhat for the club.
“I’ll say Mansfield win 2-0 to seal their top three spot.”
