Swindon Town’s interim boss Gavin Gunning has saidMK Dons loanee Dawson Devoy could return next season.

Swindon Town landed the midfielder on a temporary basis in the January transfer window from their fellow League Two club.

Devoy, 22, has since made a positive impression at the County Ground but is due to return to his parent club this summer.

Gunning has said, as per a report by the Swindon Advertiser: “100 per cent [I think he could be here next season]. I think that he loves it here and he loves the work that we are doing. We have been trying to improve him and I think you can see the improvements in his game since he has come here.”

Who is this?

Swindon Town loan man could return

Getting Devoy back in some capacity for the next campaign from MK Dons would be a big boost for Swindon Town.

He has made 14 apearances for the Robins since his winter switch and has scored three goals.

The ex-Republic of Ireland youth international still has another year left on his contract with MK Dons. However, he has slipped down the pecking order there under Mike Williamson, hence why he was allowed to head out the exit door on loan.

Devoy played for Home Farm and St Kevin’s Boys as a youngster before linking up with Bohemians.

He broke into the first-team of the League of Ireland Premier Division outfit and went on to play 88 matches, scoring 11 goals.

The Dons then lured him over to England in 2022 but they were relegated from League One during his first year.

Devoy played 44 games last term in all competitions but only featured nine times for them in the league this season before his switch to Swindon Town.

His spell in Wiltshire has enabled to get some regular game time under his belt to boost his confidence.

It appears the Robins are interested in bringing him back in a move that would probably suit all parties involved. They have two more matches left to play against Grimsby Town away and Morecambe at home.
