Yacine Adli: 'Playing with France is the objective.'

Coveted by Algeria, AC Milan’s Yacine Adli (23) has confirmed his desire to represent France at international level.

Algeria have recently changed managers, replacing Djamel Belamdi with Vladimir Petkovic and as the national team prepares for the future, they are looking at bi-nationals that can be integrated into the set-up. Adli is one of Les Fennec’s targets.

Adli has enjoyed a breakthrough season at AC Milan. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Girondins de Bordeaux man was hardly utilised by Stefano Pioli in his first season at the San Siro, but moved into a defensive midfield role, he is now earning considerable game time and putting in a string of high-quality performances.

‘As a player, I want to play at the top level’

Algeria’s pursuit is therefore logical, but it looks set to be unsuccessful. Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Adli has confirmed his desire to represent Les Bleus. “As a player, I want to play at the top level, so of course, playing for France is my primary objective. I’ll explain my decision after, but it’s not the time,” said the AC Milan midfielder, who looks to have definitively responded to questions surrounding his international allegiance.

Adli has featured for Les Bleuets up to U20 level and is now hoping that his performances will catch the eye of Didier Deschamps.
