Rangers-linked Bojan Miovski is (probably) the Scottish Premiership's most highly-sought after asset.

The Macedonian striker, 24, has been a revelation for Aberdeen this season and, being blunt, without his contribution the Pittodrie side might've been staring at the drop.

A technical, pacey front-man who plays facing the goal and who can finish with aplomb, Bojan Miovski appears to be a wanted man heading into the summer window.

Rangers have been mentioned, perhaps not as strongly as Old Firm rivals Celtic, and Aberdeen will look to bank a pretty penny on the 24-goal striker.

But amid murmurs of interest from the continent – and a price-tag of £8m – is it time we dropped any suggestion Rangers are a realistic destination for the striker?

Why Rangers would mad to fund Miovski deal

There are a couple of factors which make a Rangers move for Bojan Miovski not so much a non-starter as it is utter fantasy.

Firstly is that transfer price-tag.

The notion that Rangers will spend £8m on anyone is a tad fanciful – especially considering a £6m deal for Abdallah Sima is on this summer – but we'll indulge the suggestion for a second.

But we'll let you try to convince the Rangers board that spending £8m on an Aberdeen player is a good idea.

We imagine there is much better value out there for Rangers and despite Bojan Miovski's obvious talents, you can forget about the Ibrox club paying this sort of money.

At least for a player who plies his trade in Scotland.

Secondly, it is Aberdeen we're talking about.

We don't exactly see eye-to-eye with our Pittodrie rivals, at least on supporter level, and the Dons flogging us their best player would go down like a lead balloon in the northeast.

Rangers might instead be better poaching one of Aberdeen's brightest talents on a free in Connor Barron, one ex-Gers star branding a move for the midfielder a 'no-brainer' this week.

As with Ryan Jack and Scott Wright before him, we reckon this is the only realistic way Rangers are going to be able to strike a direct transfer from Aberdeen without being held to a King's ransom.

And thirdly, the player's stats, whilst solid, don't back up the extortionate price-tag Aberdeen are keen to demand.

Whilst the eye test proves that Miovski is a talented big-game player, the data suggests the forward is performing as expected across the piece.

That might be why Kris Boyd has been out warning Rangers off a move this week.

Aberdeen joins Ibrox trio in PFA XI

Bojan Miovski has also been out this week discussing his inclusion in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.

The Macedonian striker has been voted into the XI by his peers and joins no fewer than three Rangers stars.

Claiming that it's a 'pleasure' to have been included, Mivoski has claimed 'hard work' is the secret behind his recent success.

The message reads:

"I strongly believe if you work hard, whatever you want, it will come to you. It’s a pleasure to be chosen for the Team Player of the Year and can’t describe how much this means to me. Thanks to everyone!!! 🙏🏼Yours, BM9."

Aberdeen signed Bojan Miovski from Hungarian side MTK in 2022 and the striker has gone on to score 42 goals for the Dons.

This includes four goals in nine games against Rangers.
