There have been times this season when Rangers could have done with another striker, but calls for Alfredo Morelos to be brought back to Glasgow were wide of the mark.

It's been almost 12 months since he left Ibrox and he is still to show anything like the player that caused some of the continent's best defenders all sorts of problems in the Europa League.

After missing pre-season following his departure from Rangers, Alfredo Morelos has clearly not been able to get himself into the shape required to be an elite level footballer as another social media post from the Colombian international shows a return to his old ways.

Alfredo Morelos doesn't learn from Rangers lessons

Under Steven Gerrard, Morelos had issues with fitness and discipline which was a constant source of frustration for the former gaffer:

“I think you guys will decide how big a decision it was but for me it was pretty simple.

"We need players who work hard every single day and who are ready and focused for the challenges coming up.

"If I see people who are not focused or who have taken their eye off the ball and are not really, really hungry to get this football club results, I have to make easy decisions and Alfredo made it easy for me this week. I've picked the players that are focused.

Then, there was Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

For some reason, Morelos went from being transformed into his best form for the club to barely looking like he had the fitness to last the warm up.

A level of conditioning that earned him a two-week suspension whilst Antonio Colak scored the goals that were needed to win games.

The reality is, he hasn't been fit since his thigh injury in 2020 that ended his season.

He's now at it again for Santos.

Reports have circulated that the Brazilian outfit are ready to tear up his contract, why? Because of his attitude to training and fitness.

Right on queue, roll the video of Morelos training in the gym.

It was the same when Gio suspended him.

Almost a, "Look at me, see I am trying!" situation.

He's going to be 28 by the time next season comes around, he's been a professional for ten years and knows what level he needs to be at.

Even in training videos at Rangers he was always at the back of the pack for running and had a reputation as a horrendous trainer.

When will he realise the opportunity he has?

If he leaves it any longer, he'll only be good enough to play for Accrington Stanley.

Who are they?

Exactly.
