Sunderland turned in probably the dullest display of the season, losing to a Dan Ballard own goal against Millwall. Here's how Andy rated the Lads…

Anthony Patterson: 6/10

No chance with the goal and very little to do otherwise in a very dull game.

Timothee Pembele: 6/10

Provided an option on the right but was very isolated over there, with no real support. Cruised through the game defensively though.

Luke O'Nien (C): 6/10

Defended well and was not really troubled by the Millwall attackers.

Dan Ballard: 6/10

Battled all afternoon and was happy to give as much as he got but got done by the run of Watmore for the goal.

Aji Alese: 7/10

Got up and down the line all afternoon, providing support for Clarke and used his aerial ability well when we were defending set pieces.

Callum Styles: 5/10

Kept possession well enough but anonymous for most of the game other than one deflected first half shot.

Jobe Bellingham: 5/10

Had a quiet game in central midfield and then was just as quiet when he went up top in the second half.

Pierre Ekwah: 6/10

Had to play a more withdrawn role today in Neil's absence and did OK without really influencing the game.

Chris Rigg: 7/10

Wasn't phased by Millwall's physicality, got stuck in and was tidy in possession. Won the ball high up at one point, showed good feet to get away from the defence and got a shot off but never troubled the goalkeeper.

Jack Clarke: 5/10

Got a harsh booking in the first half and had some other decisions go against him, looked frustrated for the rest of the game.

Bradley Dack: 6/10

Put in some dangerous corners which we probably should have made more from but not involved in open play.

Substitutes

Trai Hume: 6/10

Had a couple of efforts on goal after coming on and got stuck in..

Abdoullah Ba: 5/10

Picked out Aouchiche shortly after coming on but little else from him.

Adil Aouchiche: 6/10

Was lively after he was introduced but his set pieces weren't great and had one shot when well placed but the shot immediately hit a Millwall player.

Corry Evans: 6/10

Great to see him back after being out injured for so long but no time to influence the game.

Romaine Mundle: 6/10

Came on at left wing back and didn't get much chance to threaten.

Man of the Match: Aji Alese

Great to see him in the starting line up and I thought he played well, got up and down the line and provided some threat on the left when he overlapped for Clarke. Defended pretty well too.
