Nottingham Forest have a number of players out on loan at the moment with several EFL outfits benefitting from the Reds being in the Premier League.

Lewis O’Brien is currently at Middlesbrough, Emmanuel Dennis is at Watford and Omar Richards is currently plying his trade with Olympiacos.

Elsewhere, Forest have let a number of youngsters get valuable game time under their belts. Alex Mighten, for example, is at Port Vale and Brandon Aguilera has joined Bristol Rovers.

Now, one loan player has explained how he fulfilled a dream come true yesterday. He was in action during one of the showpiece EFL finals at Wembley and endured a bittersweet afternoon.

Nottingham Forest gem Dale Taylor scores at Wembley

The young Northern Ireland international joined Wycombe in the summer transfer window. Yesterday, he almost etched his name into the Chairboys’ record books but ultimately things ended in tears.

Taylor was on the bench for the EFL Trophy final against Peterborough and after Posh had taken the lead in the 85th minute, the Forest starlet was summonsed.

With his first touch of the ball, Taylor blasted Wycombe level to send the fans behind the goal into delirium and raise the Wembley roof.

Things ended in heartache, however, as Harrison Burrows scored his second goal of the match two minutes from time to give the trophy to Peterborough.

Taylor, however, admitted that he’d ticked off a dream of his and the Forest man couldn’t smile wide enough when quizzed on his goal afterwards.

He told Wycombe’s media team on X: “Yeah, you know, off my first touch it was incredible you know, it’s every boy’s dream to score at Wembley one day. I was so happy to go and do that, obviously coming off the bench that was massive for me but you have to give our boys credit, it just wasn’t meant to be.

“I don’t think we really deserved to concede like that. It was end to end both ways and unfortunately, it went Peterborough’s way today.

“Watching the ball fall out of the sky everything was in slow motion – it felt mental, it was crazy. I just thought what have I got to lose and thankfully it went into the bottom corner.”

Taylor could make a big impression at the City Ground

It was great to see Taylor star at Wembley even if he didn’t start the game. The Forest man took his goal superbly well and he’s rated highly at the City Ground.

Taylor made it onto the bench for the senior Forest ranks during the 2021/22 campaign when the club won promotion – but he’s yet to make an appearance for the first team.

The youngster is going to get a chance to star at the club at some point it would be anticipated, however, with the player boasting some seriously impressive attributes.

When a young player heads out on loan, it’s important they play football. Matt Bloomfield has given the player a chance to do that for Wycombe and scoring at Wembley is the tip of the iceberg.

The division that Forest play in next season, will likely determine what happens with Taylor next season. If the Reds are relegated, perhaps the international will be utilised in the EFL.
