The72’s writers offer their MK Dons vs Mansfield Town prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday afternoon.

MK Dons come into their clash with Mansfield Town fighting to break into the automatic promotion spots. Mike Williamson’s side sit 4th in the League Two table as it stands, two points off 3rd having played a game more.

A win here would keep their hopes of catching Wrexham alive. However, a draw or defeat would see Phil Parkinson’s side rise to League One and only one spot left up for grabs.

Mansfield Town have been on a worrying slide of late though. They defeated Forest Green Rovers last time out but a poor run prior has seen them slip from the top of the pile to the clutches of the chasing pack.

Victory here would be huge for the Stags, but they’re in for a tough game as they head to Stadium MK.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“Both sides are in desperate need of the three points here but with so much at stake, it could end up being a tense game with little to split the two. MK Dons’ home form should stand them in good stead against a faltering Mansfield Town, but I’m not sure they’ll get the result they want.

“Nigel Clough’s side might be made to pay for their recent form, although ended up getting the job done at Forest Green. A win is a win, and it could be all the Stags need to restore a bit of confidence.

“With both sides hunting all three points, I think both will be left disappointed. I’ll go for a 1-1 draw.”

Who is this?

Harry Mail

“This is a massive game at the top end of the League Two and both teams will fancy their chances of winning it.

MK Dons haven’t lost in their last three outings since they were battered 5-0 away at Stockport County and have bounced back from that disappointing loss.

Mansfield Town returned to winning ways last time out with a 1-0 win at home to Forest Green Rovers which was a big result for them.

“However, the Stags’ form has halted recently and they risk dropping out of the top three. They have won one in their last four and I think they may slip up again here at Stadium.mk, although it will be a close one.”
