MK Dons ace expected to be a wanted man, contract up this summer

MK Dons’ Dan Kemp won’t be ‘short’ of suitors this summer, as detailed in a report by the MK Citizen.

MK Dons could face a battle to keep hold of the attacking midfielder this summer.

Kemp, 25, is out of contract at the end of the season and is due to become a free agent as things stand.

He has refused to be drawn on his long-term future with the League Two outfit and has said, as per a report by the MK Citizen: “At present, I’m focused on finishing as best we can, and ultimately achieving our goal of getting promoted. That’s all I’m looking at, it’s all I’ve looked at all season. I’m just looking at where I am now, what am I doing, when’s the next game? That’s all I put my energy into.”

MK Dons man expected to attract interest

Losing Kemp on a free transfer would be a blow for MK Dons later this year. His deal expires in late June and he is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension.

His chances of staying put may well depend on what league the Buckinghamshire club are in next term. They are currently eyeing promotion to League One.

Kemp spent the first-half of this campaign on loan with Swindon Town and was a real hit with the fellow fourth tier side. He made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Robins and fired 16 goals before heading back to Stadium.mk in January.

He joined the Dons back in 2022 and has since found the net on three occasions in 33 outings. He also had a temporary stint at Hartlepool United before moving to the County Ground last summer.

He was on the books at Chelsea as a youngster before linking up with West Ham. The Londoner never played for the Hammers' senior team and instead had loans at Stevenage and Blackpool to gain experience.

Kemp was snapped up by Leyton Orient in 2020 and spent a couple of campaigns with the O's before his switch to MK Dons.

Mike Williamson’s men are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Forest Green Rovers. They drew 3-3 away at Notts County last time out.

The Dons are 4th in the table and are three points behind joint-2nd Mansfield Town and Wrexham.
